(Guides: Meena Vari, Mr. Ravindra, Ramana)
Meena Vari
- The idea is fine but it is very vast. You might get carried away in it. Remember you have a deadline to submit it by. Make a more elaborate timeline.
- Define the audience. Who is this for?
- You are pointing out who people think aliens are. Be clear about that.
- Whose point of view will you be using? Is it like a documentary or will you be adding your own perspective in the end. Define these things; make markers for yourself so you don’t get lost. Be careful about your personal outlook, it might creep into your narrative and interactions.
- Don’t use only animation; you can use video/ photography as well (since it will not be possible for the length of the animation to exceed 2 mts)
- Look at work by Kara Walker (video by Art:21)
Mr. Ravindra
- You are talking about a lot of things. Zoom in completely (and talk about a specific topic under ‘alienation’) or zoom out and make it general. Don’t be in the middle.
- When you go meet people, go with a defined premise/ idea in mind or you will waste your time.
- After gathering that data, when you get to storyboarding, then we will talk about ethics etc.
- The questions will change when you talk to the ‘alien’ groups themselves. What will you ask? It won’t be the same for all groups. You can’t ask them about aliens directly. The questions need to change based on the response you want. Make the questions more specific for the right answers.
Ramana
-What is the final form? If it is an animation film, what duration are you looking at? (2 mts is realistic)
- You need to define style etc, do that fast. Keep sending me things.
- What will the tone of your animation be?
- By the end of the month you should have finished storyboarding.
Everyone:
You don’t have much time. Work fast, don’t drift or waste time (and finish it on time).
